Aloe vera gel is a great ingredient to discover! You can add it to your smoothies, energy balls, and muffins! Aloe vera gel contains antioxidants (vitamins A, C and E). The gel also contains vitamin B-12 and folate. It has an array of essential minerals, including calcium, potassium, magnesium, chromium, sodium, copper, zinc and selenium. It also contains many essential amino acids. Aloe gel also has several anti-inflammatory compounds, including salicylic acid. Furthermore, aloe reduces the production of acid in the body, which also prevents inflammation.
When cutting out the gel from an Aloe Vera leaf, make sure to exclude the green skin and the yellowish latex directly on the inside of the skin.
