Teriyaki and Orange Sautéed Tofu

Easy tofu recipe with an orange teriyaki sauce

This recipe is perfect for tofu newbies, or to diversify your repertoire of tofu dishes. The sweet and savory teriyaki orange sauce pairs well with wholegrain rice and sautéed vegetables.

Ingredients

1 package of non-GMO or organic firm tofu (400g), compressed by a cloth, to remove as much moisture as possible, and cut into 1.5 inch cubes

6 tablespoons of tamari or soy sauce

2 tbsp. toasted sesame oil

1 cup of pulp free orange juice

4 tbsp. rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar

4 tbsp. of honey or maple syrup

4 garlic cloves, crushed

1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger or 1 tbsp. ginger powder

Optional : ½ tsp. hot pepper flakes or ½ teaspoon hot chile Pepper, minced

Golden teriyaki orange tofu cubes are a perfect match with sautéed vegetables and wholegrain rice

Instructions

1- In a mixing bowl, whisk all the ingredients well, except for the tofu. Pour your marinade into a container and gently mix in the tofu cubes into the sauce, let marinate 1 to 3 hours.

2- Place tofu in a frying pan, add half of the cubes at a time and brown on each sides, on medium-high heat and set aside on a plate.

3- Once all the tofu cubes are browned, add the remaining marinade in the pan and cook while stirring until a sirupy consistency is obtained. Put the tofu pieces back in the pan and mix them gently in the sauce.

4- Serve immediately with your favorite vegetables and wholegrain rice.
